Football Themed Birthday Party Planning
March 9, 2016 by

I love recycling birthday party themes, because not only do I save money on party favors and decorations by reusing items I already have, but I can work on perfecting some party plans that didn't go as I had hoped. Football themed parties are pretty simple, because the decor is easy to find in stores any time of the year. But, now that there are websites like Pinterest and Etsy, I can find some really cool, unique additions to make the event even better.

Did I mention, I absolutely adore Pinterest? Check out the plans I've made using this pinning tool.

Outfits: Clothes are usually a priority, since we don't often take professional family photos. A party is one of the occasions where we can coordinate outfits and get great candid shots. Since the theme is football, I've decided to purchase football themed tops or appliques for all of us. The birthday boy will have a shirt with his age written in "football" numbers. I will print footballs iron-on transfers for my husband and younger son.

Of course, as the only female in my household, my top will have rhinestones!

Games / Entertainment: From football bingo, a ball toss or a race that includes an inflatable slide, lots of options can be found online. As usual, we're going to have a combo bounce house. That usually keeps the kids busy for hours, but for games and to be able to give away prizes, I'm seriously considering the football toss and obstacle course pictured below.
Food & Drinks: As mentioned in a previous post, mason jars are useful in more ways than one. Not only could they be used as favors, decor or to hold food options, they can also be used as mugs.

Aside from the fruit and veggie trays that are must haves for every party (not everyone is allowed to partake in sweets), I am ordering two 30" pizza pies, hotdogs, sandwiches and a few of the goodies pictured below. I will purchase plastic shot glasses, or slightly larger glasses and fill them with chocolate pudding, topped with mini marshmallows. I'm also looking for things that are simple to make, like deviled eggs, chocolate covered strawberries, chocolate covered pretzels and of course, mini cup cakes. I want football stadium type food, while incorporating things adults like.
