My Google Search accidentally took me to an amazing story!
January 25, 2013 by

Have you ever conducted a search for one thing, but accidentally come across something amazing? That's what happened today while I was searching for a cure for my ant bite, lol.

Before I was sure my "injury" was actually an ant bite, I did a Google Search looking for pictures of other ant bites to see if the bump was similar. I also wondered if I should actually feel a sharp pain and curious to find out if it leaves scars. Some of the photos were really frightening and severe, but looking at the mild (one bite) photos, I was able to play doctor and confirm that it is in fact the result of an ant bite. Of course I'm not crazy enough to post a picture of my actual bite since it's on my tush, but it looks closest to this photo I found >>>

During my search, the amazing story I was referring to was the story of a nearly dead squirrel that was found and rescued by some truly remarkable people and their dog Pixie! I noticed the ant bites on this creature, but I was trying to figure out what the heck it was. I thought it was a baby rat! Being my nosey curious self, I clicked on the image to see the brief mention of the creature. After clicking, I realized this was NOT going to be a quick read!

"Chronicles Of A Scooby Snack" is the title of this story, and it begins August 11, 2007. It is 20 pages long and follows the life of a squirrel that went from a rescued animal getting nursed back to health to a squirrel who became a pet, then a family member. It's a really sweet story and shows how amazing and compassionate some people could be. Reminds me of TV, where humans are BFFs with animals, I was always jealous of those characters, lol. I always wanted a house full of pets, but I can be lazy at times or just plain scared of some creatures, so having to walk a dog would become a nuisance. If it's raining or too hot outside, I'm not going anywhere.

As of July 2009, no updates were added, but I sure would like to know how the squirrel and his/her family is doing today! The story of Scooby is way too long to summarize here, but I definitely encourage you to read it!

UPDATE: I was curious, so I sent a message to the family inquiring about Scooby and quickly received a response! (Gosh, I love when people are quick!!!) Here is the message I received!

"Scooby is alive and well. She still lives with me. Pixie lives with my now ex husband and is likewise doing great. I see her now and then, she's a very happy girl. Luka, the other Dane, is about to turn 9 years old. I can't believe I haven't written about her since 2009. She does have a facebook page I update now and then. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Scooby-Snack/124989723632?ref=ts&fref=ts

I've been told time and again I should write a book about her. A few years after Scooby I encountered Jake. Jake was a Florida Woodrat. Like Scooby, Jake was an amazing experience. Being a rat, his life was far too short. I miss him terribly, but I'm so grateful to have known him.

Thanks for writing. Feel free to friend Scooby on facebook. I will try to be better about updating!
