Trying Fay's Pepper Steak Recipe - CookLikeAJamaican.com

I like to eat all types of food. What do you expect? I'm a half Trinidadian, 1/2 Puerto Rican woman who grew up with a Jamaican Stepfather who was a chef. Living in NY I had endless options when it came to food. NY is a Cultural melting pot. I frequented restaurants that served American food, loved Italian food and placed orders often at Chinese restaurants, lol. Man, my mouth is watering just thinking about it...whew!
Anyhoo, fast forward into adulthood. I cannot eat the way I used to, especially not while I'm married to my husband who happens to be Jamaican. I had to learn how to cook food he likes. Since my mom-in-law lives too far for me to drive by every time I need an idea, what better way to learn than to get on Google and find something worthwhile?
I already have the main Trinidad dishes down, and I eat Caribbean food often. Unfortunately, in my area of FL, there aren't really any Caribbean restaurants that serve food as good as what I'm accustomed to, my tastebuds are spoiled. I found a few dishes that intrigued me on a few sites, but when I came across CookLikeAJamaican.com EVERY thing I saw caused me to say, "ooh, I want to try that!"
While trying to figure out what to make for Sunday dinner, an email popped up in my inbox. It was from Fay from CookLikeAJamaican.com. (Don't get your panties in a bunch, she didn't spam me, lol. I joined her mailing list!).
What you'll need:
Beef top round steak
Light soy sauce
Green bell pepper
Red bell pepper
Yellow bell pepper
Can of chopped tomato or a tomato
*The only tweak I made was adding some Lawry's season to our taste. Other than that, the meal was perfect!
She doesn't know me, but with all the emails and recipes I've been following, I consider her family. And, since I consider my readers friends, I'd like to share pics from my son Justin and I's "Pepper Steak trial". Most of the ingredients needed, we already had. All I had to pick up was steak and peppers. This was so simple to make, an 8 year old could do it, lol. It's not often we hit a home run trying a recipe for the first time, I was so proud of us I had to share photos. As the food cooked, my son said, "Mommy I think you're going to need the camera, this is gonna be good". LOL...he was right!
