By now, my readers know I'm only interested in reviewing items that would benefit me or someone I know. After my experience with Ozeri's Digital Blood Pressure Monitor, and the fact that my mother who has been an RN for more than 20 years loves it, that made me trust their monitor even more! So it's easy to understand why I was excited to be asked to try another one of their products and share my experience.
From a long list of products to chose from, I couldn't wait to try the Ozeri Touch II Kitchen Scale, with Microban® Antimicrobial Product Protection. Two of the health and nutrition books I've been reading and trying to follow reference food portion sizes and meat ounces that should be eaten. I have my Dad's hands, not dainty feminine hands, lol, so I choose not to use my palm to measure meat like one of the books suggest.
After having the scale sit in the box for a few weeks, today I had the perfect opportunity to try it. I asked my husband to pick up a bag of potatoes from the store so I can make mashed potatoes to go with our steaks. He brought the bag, but for some reason it looked like potatoes were missing from it. Take a look at the photo on the right (B), does that look like a 5 lb bag of potatoes to you?
He told me all the bags looked the same so he didn't think anything was missing. I then remembered a food scale was sitting in a box in the office. I ran and got the scale then held the bag up on the scale to check the weight. That didn't work out too well, so I emptied the bad and laid potatoes on the scale and measured them. To make it fun, my husband and I decided to bet $1. Unfortunately, he won!
The first group of potatoes weighed 1 lb. 11.4 oz.
The second group of potatoes weighed 3 lbs. 5.6 oz.
For those who forgot, 16 ounces equal a pound. Total weight for the potatoes were 5 lbs. 1 oz.
This was a winning product. I was not only impressed by how sensitive it was in its measuring, but I was impressed by how seemingly accurate it was. I found what I consider to be potato measuring happiness!
I measured the potatoes once again and was given the same numbers. I even remeasured the potatoes you see in photo D, one by one and when adding up the weights I still arrived at 1 lb 11.4 oz.
Features as listed on the product box:
To measure your food, simply put your finger on the power. I can't call it a button, because you don't actually "press" anything...talk about super sensitive! You can then put down a plate, cup or whatever you plan to hold the food you are measuring in, on the scale. After you put your plate down, tap the '"tare" option so the plate's weight is not counted when you're measuring your food. The scale will then measure "0: 0.0"
Take a look at the photos below to watch as I measure a few pieces of watermelon (click photos to enlarge).
