My kids are always excited when a new toy shows up on our doorstep. Especially when they see it advertised on television, and they can say, "hey, I've tried that!"
When Zoomer's best friend Shadow showed up, my kids were all too eager to open the box. They've played with toy dogs in the past, but they're 6 and 8, so the toys of the past and the capabilities of Shadow are no comparison. This dog does a lot of what a real dog does, without me having to get up to walk it for exercise or to allow it to "relieve" itself!
Don't get me wrong, I love animals. I just don't have the time required to care for one long term, that is why I have fostered dogs, instead of adopting.

Shadow comes with an instruction manual (training guide) and usb cord. Something parents will appreciate! No wasting time and money having to buy batteries for this toy. Just plug it in > charge > unplug and play!
Three languages can be used (English, Spanish and French. The guide even shows the commands in each language, it will be fun learning them too!
What's really cool about this dog, is that it understands voice and physical commands and it can be taught up to 30 tricks. He'll remember tricks, but if he's ignored, he'll forget them. He'll also misbehave by "peeing", lol.
It's so realistic that you have to watch how you treat him, like a real dog. If you're impatient, yelling, etc. he'll be put in a bad mood and won't listen.
I had as much fun as the kids playing with this because, it wasn't as difficult to teach it tricks as I thought it would be. It only took about 5 minutes to understand the tone the dog would accept. It ignored me before then because I was speaking too soft, then too loud. Also, my kids were speaking too fast in the beginning. After that it was a breeze!
Thoughts: The cost of the Spin Master Interactive pets range from $90 - $99, price varies on different websites. The price is a little steep, and the charge is a bit short for my liking. Provides about 20 minutes of play time before it needs to be charged again, other than that it was a lot of fun. My kids were entertained and had fun going down the list of tricks and having Shadow follow!
