Warmze Portable Self Heating Bottle Warmer Review
August 23, 2013 by

When my kids were little, we would depend on our trusty car bottle warmer. We're always on the road and I hated having to stop at a public place and ask someone to warm up a bottle for us. That can be annoying! Problem with our bottle warmer was it involved an adaptor which means something else couldn't be plugged in at the time. Cell phones are important, but not as important as keeping a baby quiet!

My days of needing a car bottle warmer are over (for now), but luckily I have family and friends with babies and we're a bit anxious to see how well the Warmze works, so here's my review of the Warmze #1 Rated Portable Bottle Warmer!

How it works:
In simple steps, you put the bottle in the cute little bottle wrap, lift up the outer layer of the wrap then wrap the warmer around the bottle. After the warmer is on the bottle, you then put the outer layer of the wrap down. So instead of the warmer being directly on the bottle, it's in between the two layers of the warmer.

Product claims:
  • Warmer intended to warm contents to 90-104 degrees Fahrenheit, the temperature of mothers breast milk, tepid.
  • Activated by air, just remove the wrap from the plastic cover and expose the warmer to the air.
  • Will thaw and warm breast milk, formula and milk.
  • Warmer takes up to 30 minutes to reach maximum temperature.
  • Warmer provides constant heat for up to 12 hours.
  • Eco-friendly.

Did it work:
I followed the instructions which direct us to NOT place the warmer directly on the baby bottle (as shown in above photos) and set my timer for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes I felt the warmer and it was warm as expected. I removed the baby bottle from the warmer and unfortunately the baby bottle was still cold (only a slight change from the way it felt originally). I placed the bottle back in the warmer for another half hour.

After one hour I took the bottle out of the warmer and it was cool. Not warm or luke warm. I felt the warming wrap to see if it was defective but it was still warm so I'm not sure what happened here. After an hour and a half the milk was the temperature my boys would like. In my case it did not work in the 30 minutes as stated on the package, but it did work eventually to make my bottle warm. What I would do with this (just in case it doesn't warm up in the time expected), is use it to have a second bottle prepared, which is something we did with our car bottle warmer with adapter. By the time our boys needed the second bottle, it would be ready. This would save us from having to find somewhere to plug into!

My thoughts:
Great concept, just allow more time for really cold liquids (may seem obvious, but because it says "up to 30 minutes" consumers may assume 30 minutes would be the max for really cold items, shorter times for liquids closer to room temperature). Plus, the cloth wraps are cute! After testing the wrap I didn't want to waste the remaining warmth, so I used the warmer over a bandana and wrapped it around my wrist. Felt great and definitely put an end to my hand cramps!
