River Kidz Summer Celebration at the US Sailing Center Martin County
July 8, 2017 by
I wasn't expecting my son to want to sail today. I thought we would just stop by this event and check out all the cool activities planned for kids. In fact, we were fully dressed and making a quick stop before going out to eat. Had I known, we would've been prepared with swim trunks and slippers.
He's usually the type to say he doesn't want to go into any water he cannot see through. But today, something about the sails caught his eyes. Before I noticed, his sneakers were off, so I helped him take his socks off to keep them from getting wet. Sandy socks are one thing, but sandy and wet, no thanks!
He folded up his jean shorts, a lady helped him put on his life vest and my child was headed into the water! That was something special for me to see. I was proud of him and myself, because I'm a serious helicopter type of mom. But, we live in Florida now, so I have to let his love for water grow. He had a great time in the water, I had fun taking selfies!
