OMG!!! Can You Believe I Shopped Organic?
May 1, 2013 by
Keeping up with this new dieting experience, I had to pick up a few items I kept forgetting to look for. Who knew Walmart and the local grocery stores sold organic food? I know, I know...that's a given. But, I never had an interest in them because I assumed the price would be way to high for my piggy bank. That was definitely true when considering the price of items at the grocery and "real" food grocery stores with the price of the same exact items at Walmart. I did a price check like the commercials that are in heavy rotation and actually spent under $20 for everything in the photo on the right at Walmart. Not bad at all for healthy food, I expected worse. I still had to go to the specialty grocery store for the raw cashews, sprouted grain bread and steel cut oats, but luckily the regular price for them weren't too high, so I didn't have to leave the store in tears!

Girl you are something else with that fyi, ha. I dont blame you. How is your garden coming along?
>RondaMay 1, 2013 11:17 PM Needed to add that. I see too many people posting for people to stay away from there, but no one has ever sent me a gift card for the alternatives, lol. So unless they're paying my grocery bill..... By the way, my pepper plant died. Something about the pH levels in my area. so I have to start from scratch :( Thanks for commenting!!! I find a lot of organic foods at Publix for cheap prices. They put their Greenwise products on sale b/c most people d o not buy them thinking they are automatically to high b/c it's organic.
FYI: I know lots of people hate Walmart, but I'm not one of them. Aside from having friends who work there, it's the most affordable option for myself and people I know. I also shop at the local u-pick farms, trying hard to grow veggies in my back yard and I support small businesses when their prices are reasonable, so I don't need a lecture!
Weird stuff I had to buy...
Tomato Paste: OMG, alone this tastes disgusting. But, mixed with seasonings and spread over steak strips, delicioso!
Steel Cut Oats: Never heard of it before the Fast Metabolism Diet. Who knew oats were not originally flat? I didn't taste this yet, but I heard it's nutty and takes forever to cook. Maybe I'll start cooking in now so it will be ready by next week Monday!
Sprouted Multi Grain Bread: Sprouta-what??? What the heck is a sprouted bread? Does that mean things are growing out of it? And why is it in the freezer section? Should I be worried? Do I have to eat it all quickly? Wait...what?
P.S. I had to make homemade salad dressing for the wraps and it came out so good I will never have to buy and waste money on salad dressing ever again. French always expires before using because in the past I ignored a daily salad and ranch and blue cheese were only used on wings, lol. :)
