I received a LipSense Long Lasting Liquid Lip Color in "She's Apples" and a LipSense Moisturizing Gloss. I was unfamiliar with the process of using LipSense. It isn't an ordinary apply and go type of lipstick. It actually involves a process. But first, shake well!
Step One: Apply in one direction beginning with outside corner of the mouth.
Step Two: Apply three layers, letting each dry 3-5 seconds.
Step Three: Finish with your favorite LipSense Gloss.
I applied the LipSense Lip Color. As soon as I did, it burned. My lips actually hurt and because of that I was unable to apply a second or third coat. By habit I licked my lips after removing the LipSense and the taste was awful, like I licked rubbing alcohol. My lips also felt very dry.
I don't know why I didn't look initially, but after that experience I looked at the ingredients list and saw that the first ingredient was alcohol. I have a habit of biting my lips, so they are a bit peeled which is likely the cause of the burning sensation. I'll give it another shot in a few days.
The first photo is without LipSense and the following photos are after applying each coat. The lipstick is expected to last 4 - 18 hours, unfortunately for me it lasted less than an hour. The bottom was fine, but my top lip was nearly bare.
I realize it will take me some time to master applying and maintaining LipSense.
I didn't wait a few days later, I tried it the next day. After reading the instructions I learned that it will burn if the lips are chapped or pealing. Mine are always sensitive since I bite my lips all the time, so no sense waiting any longer.
