Grow Your Own Avocado Tree with AvoSeedo

October 8, 2017 by Ronda

I adore avocados. I actually have an avocado plant in my backyard, but it is still a baby, not yet a tree. I cannot wait until it starts producing avocados. We're not there yet, but an opportunity to try the AvoSeedo avocado grower has presented itself and I'm curious to see if it grows avocados faster.

The AvoSeedo is packed with everything you need to start an avocado tree, except a bowl of water. To begin, you cut an avocado in half, then remove the pit. Peel the skin from the pit and place it in the center of the AvoSeedo. Lastly, place the AvoSeedo into a bowl of water.

It's important to make sure the AvoSeedo is leveled and you do so by making sure it's floating evenly in the bowl. Turn the pit until that happens.

Setting it up was pretty straightforward, but it will take a few months to germinate. I will update this post a few times as I notice growth.

Photos are from Day 1 and Day 31

My avocado tree is growing! The estimated time for the pit to crack open is 3-6 weeks. After 4 weeks, here is my result!

One of the things I had to do, that I forgot a few times was to not change the water completely. The first week I changed the water often and I think I slowed the process. When I left it alone and just added water when necessary (instead of changing the water completely), the result showed. On the bottom of the bowl is a longer stem.

I cannot wait for this to join grow and join the avocado tree my mother in law gave me. I tried growing avocados from a seed in the past using toothpicks and a cup and had no luck. This would be the first time I successfully grew avocados myself!!!
